With a live demonstration of a humanoid robot at the Museum of Human Evolution
On April 2, 2025 a unique robotic experience was presented in the museum of Human Evolution.
Based on knowledge about prehistoric man, scientists are developing robots that make better tools or use them differently. This development is in full swing in the Metatool project, which is funded by the European Union. For the first time, the public can now also experience how this project will add value to society and production processes. Leading universities are working together in a multidisciplinary team on this project, which will have a variety of applications.
A live demonstration of the TIAGo robot from PAL Robotics was held. This unique robotic experience was presented in the beautiful decor of the museum of Human Evolution.
"At PAL Robotics, we are excited to push the boundaries of robotics by enabling autonomous tool creation. Through the METATOOL project, our TIAGo++ platform is demonstrating how robots can not only use tools but also construct and invent them. This research brings us closer to developing robots that adapt dynamically to their environments, unlocking new possibilities in artificial intelligence and human-robot collaboration."
Media was invited for a presentation and live demonstration. During the experience, the robot of PAL Robotics will be on display. The way in which people in antiquity developed tools is the inspiration for complex computational models for robots. During the exhibition it becomes clear how the development came about and where the technology stands now.
The Museum of Human Evolution of Burgos was created for the developments and transformations that give rise to a special human production, involving the base of the halls of the Yacimientos of the Sierra de Atapuerca (Burgos). The Yacimiento of the Sierra de Atapuerca is a major discovery of international importance to preserve the lives of our ancestors. The Museum of Human Evolution is a unique place for the future of robotic and is the perfect place to present the MetaTool project.
