MetaTool at ROSCon Spain 2024

The MetaTool project recently participated in ROSCon Spain 2024, a leading robotics event held in Seville on the 19th and 20th of September. This gathering of robotics experts, researchers and industry leaders provided an excellent platform for us to showcase our progress on the robotics side of the project.

Our team was honoured to present the MetaTool project at this Spanish edition of ROSCon, where we shared our vision for the future of robotic cognition with an engaged and knowledgeable audience. The two-day event, held in the beautiful city of Seville, provided the perfect backdrop for discussing the latest developments in robotics and ROS (Robot Operating System).

During our presentation, we delved into the core of the MetaTool project: the development of a metapredictive model of synthetic awareness to enable tool invention. We explained how our approach aims to enable robots to monitor and self-evaluate their performance, a crucial step towards truly adaptive behaviour. The audience showed particular interest in our project's ultimate goal of enabling robots to create novel tools, a concept that could revolutionise the way machines interact with and modify their environment.

The ROSCon Spain event also featured workshops and talks on various aspects of robotics, including a session on simulating robotic manipulators using Nvidia Isaac Sim and ROS 2. This complementary content provided an excellent context for our work, highlighting the potential integration points between existing robotic systems and the advanced cognitive capabilities we're developing with MetaTool.

The response to our presentation and workshop was very positive. We received valuable feedback and made connections with researchers and industry professionals working on complementary technologies, opening doors for future collaborations within the Spanish and international robotics communities.

Participating in ROSCon Spain 2024 reaffirmed the importance of the MetaTool project in the rapidly evolving field of robotics and AI. The event provided a unique opportunity to engage with the Spanish robotics community and showcase our work on an international stage. As we continue our research and development, we're more excited than ever about the potential of our work to push the boundaries of what's possible in robotic cognition and tool invention.

We would like to thank the organisers of ROSCon Spain 2024 for providing this platform and all the attendees who engaged with us during the event. Stay tuned to our website for more updates on the MetaTool project, including future events where we'll be showcasing our latest developments in adaptive robotic systems.
